FAQ's:
-
What is the H-2B Visa?
The H-2B Visa is a non-immigrant Visa allowing foreign nationals to enter the U.S. temporarily in non-agricultural employment which is seasonal, intermittent, a peak load need, or a one-time occurrence.
-
What are the limitations of an H-2B Visa?
The job must be temporary in nature and the need is for one year or less. Additionally, due to the limited number of H-2B's granted per year, there are specific date guidelines by which applications must be made for any given season. Please contact AmerEx for detailed information.
-
When should I contact AmerEx to get an H-2B Visa Participant?
AmerEx recommends contacting your Employer Relations Coordinator 6-9 months before you intend to begin your H-2B program. Please note that recruiting, petition approvals, and other governmental processes can take up to three months to complete and the sooner the process is started, the better.
-
Who are H-2B Participants?
Program applicants are international adults (18 – 40 years) from a variety of backgrounds interested in working in the United States. All applicants are screened for appropriate English language fluency, ability to function in a work environment, and high-level of motivation.
-
When is the application deadline?
AmerEx accepts Employer Applications on a rolling basis but keep in mind that the U.S. government accepts H-2B petitions in two periods: summer (work start date on April 1st or after) and winter (work start date on October 1st or after). AmerEx recommends filing petitions on the first available day, 120 days (roughly 4 months) before the desired work start date. Therefore, AmerEx's deadline to receive an H-2B employer application is November 1st for summer petitions and May 1st for winter petitions.
